Even he was known to smile upon exceptional oration, and could be impressed by a great act of self-sacrifice, being known to bring back deities when they died in service to their ethos. ĭespite his deliberate indifference, Ao was not emotionless. He cared even less about the day-to-day goings-on of mortals and some theorized that he didn't want to be known by them. He did not see every divine role as beneficial to its bearer, and indeed might even grant godhood as a form of penalty. When a deity did something that wasn't accounted for by his or her portfolio, Ao would punish that deity, and such punishments were usually harsh. He didn't care what the deities or primordials were doing as long as they upheld their individual portfolios and did not completely ignore their worshipers, and did not care to be challenged on his verdicts. Personality Īo held himself aloof from most events as an eternal, rarely-interfering observer. Otherwise, he was envisioned as a very literal beard in the sky, with only a face and hands. He wore a black robe dotted by millions of stars and moons, arranged in a not-quite-perceptible pattern but which had a beautiful and harmonious feel. He was ageless (neither young nor old), and had a beard and hair of purest white with an absolutely average visage, even and symmetrical, neither pleasant nor unpleasant. Otherwise however, the Overpower's appearance reflected his nature as a being of balance. In that instance, he took the form of a cryptic and incredibly imposing being, towering over 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall.
He blamed the Circle for his own failings and cursed them as his enemies from then onwards. In the end Cyric, continue to work against the gods and eventually faced uprising within his own divine realm. Cyric was directed to participate in the Circle's meetings and abide by their decisions, and Mystra was forced to restore to Cyric his access to the Weave.
They found that due to the fact each god had recently ascended from mortality, they would be forgiven so long as they made right their offenses. The Council met once again to address both Cyric's crime of releasing Kezef, and Mystra's unlawful seizure of magic from Cyric.
In retribution, Cyric freed Kezef from his imprisonment to hunt down the soul of Kelemvor, his mortal enemy in life. Tyr offered a mere warning to the Mad God, but Mystra illegally stripped him of his ability to cast magic. Cyric was believed to have slain the goddess Leira and had created a magical book called the Cyrinishad, that could convert readers to the Cyricist faith.

In the Year of the Banner, 1368 DR, the Circle held a series of sessions to discuss and deal with the god Cyric. They magically bound the beast within the depths of Pandemonium. History Īt some point in their history, the Circle of Greater Powers banned members of the pantheon from dealing with Kezef the Chaos Hound. The twelve greater powers met within the Pavilion of Cynosure which was set within a unique demiplane within the greater Ethereal plane. The Circle did not hold regular conclaves, but did meet when problems arose that concerned them all.
